Sir Thomas More (–) was an English lawyer, statesman, humanist scholar, and Catholic martyr whose life and writings sit at the intersection of late medieval and early modern Europe. Educated in London and at Oxford, he became a leading figure of Northern Renaissance humanism and a close friend of Erasmus of Rotterdam.
